Tagtool

We recently visited the Spanish island Gran Canaria, located in the Atlantic Ocean about 150 kilometers off the northwestern coast of Africa, for two days of Tagtool workshops and a performance.

Gnu’s report from his work with students of the Dreihackengasse school in Graz, as part of the educational art project “Konfrontationen” featuring Virtual Conductor II and the Tagtool.

Once again we realized a Tagtool Workshop for kids at Juvivo.15 in Vienna. This time the participants were very young (between six and nine) and had only three hours on the Tagtool. So I was curious if we even could achieve a result in that time.

Maki and iink (Tagtool) performed with Christian Reiner (voice) and Philip Zoubek (piano) at WORM and held a DIY-Tagtool workshop at moddr.

Recently, I had a really great opportunity drop into my lap. Reversing the time machine several months, I built a Tagtool Mini for a friend’s birthday. He owns an art gallery in Seoul, South Korea and is actively involved in performance-related tomfoolery both in the gallery and out, so he has had a few chances to showcase Tagtool performances alongside some other friends’ music. As luck would have it, he is also a professor at a university just outside Seoul.

“When zwei Herzen schlagen” (“When two hearts beat”) is an intercultural love story between the Turkish boy Abdul Kadir and the Austrian girl Doris Meier. The video is the result of a Tagtool workshop for kids at the Viennese youth center Juvivo15.
