Best way to conect to PC?

Hello!

I discovered tagtool couple days ago, liked it a lot and bought the pro version!

I would like to connect it somehow to my windows laptop to use it in HeavyM.
I tried via NDI server but ipad couldn’t handle it probably as the application froze and I needed to restart it.
Then i tried to connect to the tagtool desktop version via local network session and using tagtool desktop as NDI stream, worked a bit better but the animations i did via ipad then came out jittery on the pc as if they skipped a few frames. They jitter also on the ipad when connected.
I also tried to stream to HeavyM with tagtool desktop via spout while in a local session with the ipad. It was extremely jitery and i have good network connection

I am using Ipad pro 10.5 (i think it is from 2018), and ipad pro m4.

Anyway what is the best option to connect to a video mapping software?
Is there a way for a wired connection directly to the computer cause streaming in any way is as it seems impossible and unusable in my case as it seems :frowning:

And bonus question is there a way to export animations to use it in other softwares?
I see so much possibilities! I used procreate to create leaflets for flowers and could flawlessly use and animate them😄

Thanks for any advice

Hello,

Using an ethernet cable instead of a wireless connection is definitely better!

Most of the time we use Tagtool Desktop on PC that runs a Spout Server - the shared video texture usually gets picked up by Resolume or Touchdesigner on the same PC.

The PC is connected with an ethernet cable to a network router. The iPads are connected with an USB-C dongle that has an ethernet port and they are also connected to the same network.

Using NDI with a wireless connection can be very slow and laggy especially when you work on FullHD textures.

@Video Export
You can export videos on your iPad when pressing the “record” button in Animation Mode in the Top Bar. There are also some Options in the Main Menu “Capture/Video”- that let you choose codecs, framerate, recording lenght etc…

Via Tagtool Desktop you can also record the alpha channel when you enable Transparency in the capture settings. You just need to select the “Lagarith Codec” and set it up to capture RGB+Alpha.

Best,
Mat
