I recently bought a refurbished iPad Mini 2 to give it a try without breaking the bank. My goal isn’t to make complex animations, but it keeps crashing after just a few minutes of use. I’ve already tried lowering the canvas format and the output quality, but it hasn’t helped. Any advice on how to fix this?
This iPad model is indeed quite old - it was released in 2013 - i think you are running out of memory quite fast. Since the iPadOS needs a lot - there is not much left for Tagtool. When we use older models during workshops we encounter the same issues with crashes. Simply painting for a bit and mode switch drains all the memory that is left.
Thank you for your quick response. The mini crashes as soon as I go to full screen. The iPad OS is 12.5.7. As you said, it is probably a memory issue. I was wondering if anyone has tried downgrading to earlier versions of iOS and Tagtool to make it work.
I also got an iPad 9 to try, and that one works fine at the moment. I’m just taking my first steps with Tagtool, so I’ll be able to tell you more as I use it.
Downgrading to a previous iOS version is pretty awful - unless you have a certain backup from that version on that device. You need a signed iOS firmware (aka .ipsw file) to restore your device at a specific version. The iPad will be wiped and set to factory settings. There are some “unofficial” websites that might provide your files - but iOS 12 is nearly a decade ago.
Besides the hassle, i wonder if going backwards will help you.
Glad you have another device to work on - welcome to the Tagtool community!
